ATTENTION CANADIANS! We ship by FedEx Air Economy to CANADA. Canada Customers: Shipping to Canada is quoted as Ground, but we send your item by Fed Ex Air Economy at NO additional Cost to the Buyer. We do this so no brokerage fees are due from the customer when the item arrives. The shipping calculator shown in the auction is a UPS calculator which is confusing. eBay does not support Fed Ex Ground software in their system so this is the only way we can offer a calculator. The prices quoted in the shipping calculator are discounted and are reflected in shipping price to counter the "Free Shipping" for the United States. The calculator that we use will not figure quotes for the Northern Territories and some remote areas of Canada. Please phone or email us for a quote for those areas. If you have a question, please call us before ordering. Duties and Taxes still have to be paid, but all brokerage fees are eliminated. A small Tax Collection Surcharge may be assessed by FedEx for delivery.

Great Economy Horn Review by dhbtoo
I have used my E F Durand alto horn as the top voice in a tuba ensemble as well in a brass band. Normally I would not consider using an economy horn as my main performance horn, but in this case I was glad to make an exception. This is a nice, free blowing, good sounding horn. The construction is solid, and the finish is attractive and durable. Normally I would not consider using the stock mouthpiece, but this one is adequate to the job. I think this horn is a great value. Great Value Review by Don
As a utility brass player of 50 years, I can definitly tell you that you will not be wasting your money if you buy this horn.

Understanding that even a name brand instrument is likely to have minor issues, the Durand Eb horn has no more issues than any other. The very worst thing I found was the 2nd valve slide is extremely difficult to remove.

On the positive side, the horn makes a very good first impression as the finish looks good, and the horn feels solid. I field tested it with the stock mouthpiece, and it produces a very pleasant sound. Unlike other Chinese manufactured horns I have purchased, this horn lined up well with a tuner. While there are minor variations in intonation, there are no real intonation "issues." On first play there seems to be the slightest bit of stuffiness in the low end, but I suspect that a new Denis Wick mouthpiece might take care of that. The valves move well, and they appear to be made of quality material.

The short review is this: I played less than $300 for the horn delivered to my door. Does it play like a Yamaha or Besson? No, but dollar per dollar, I believe I got a much better deal.
